| So I guess I have to announce this to everyone I possibly can... I made A Cappella! That will probably be the crowning achievement of my year. Hands down. | | |
| So recap of last month: School is hard, I want a job, Junior year seems reasonable, c'est la vie. Let's discuss the end of August through the present: I went through one job and I'm about to get fired at another, if only because I keep changing my work schedule, just about every week. They're understandably frustrated. I can't really do anything about it, so I guess I'm back to looking for a new job where I can get paid at least almost as well as I did at OfficeMax and maintain some form of dignity. Fazoli's will not be much of a possibility. You never know though, they might not fire me. School is school. Sometimes it gets stressful, sometimes I get apathetic. It's kind of a daily tossup. Speaking of school, I have a wealth of assignments sitting unfinished on my desk, and I have rehearsal tonight, so I should probably get on that. Yeah. I just can't wait for the day I start college. Summer is summer, because after this summer I'll still be back at Corona. And to be truthful, I just don't want to be a high schooler any more. I want to intern in Congress for the rest of my life but since I obviously can't do that, I just want to go to college, I want a new chance at everything, I want out of this place! | | |
| So, I guess I'll update. My summer was amazing. Working in Congress for 3 weeks is amazing, and I just can't stop telling stories about it, all of it, as most of my friends have probably figured out by now. I really, really want to go back for 6 weeks next summer too. New York for a week was fabulous as well, and then school started when I got home.
All one week of it so far has been pretty manageable, my classes seem hard just from the talk but we haven't really done anything yet. Classes never start the serious work until well past the drop deadline, which I guess is to guilt kids into staying in the class. That's my personal theory. But yeah, otherwise all is well. I applied for a job (or two, I'm looking into Coldstone); I get my license in about a week.
Then I'll be making my own money, driving my own car, arranging my own life...
College can't come fast enough.

| Leave your name and....
1. I'll respond with something random about you. 2. I'll challenge you to try something. 3. I'll pick a color that associates with you. 4. I'll tell you something I like about you. 5. I'll tell you my clearest memory of you. 6. I'll tell you what animal you remind me of. 7. I'll ask you something I've always wanted to ask you. 8. If I do this for you, you must post this on yours...
Belinda --
1. In that one picture of you, your hair flips out in a way that makes me very jealous. 2. I challenge you to write an article for the paper, no holds barred (is that how that phrase goes?), regardless of what the administration might think. In fact I challenge the entire Sunset staff to do that. 3. I ... associate the color... white... with you... because you appear to be quite hygienic. 4. I like how you are friendly to everyone! Hooray! 5. I remember you sat across from me in Spanish class. And that you enjoyed laughing whenever Chapin made fun of me. But then again so did the entire class. 6. I feel... deeply within my soul... that you remind me of a dog. A happy, well-loved, well-fed, dog. And by well-fed I in no way infer anything about your weight. I just mean that as a byproduct of being well-loved, dogs are well-fed. 7. Hmm... I think I will ask you what your life goals are. What are your life goals, Belinda?
Kenneth 1. You are very sesquipedalianistic. It is crazy! 2. I challenge you to talk about something completely superficial and trivial, just because I think you talk about so much philosophy and ethics and you need to explore other things. 3. I associate the color blue with you. Because um, you wear jeans? 4. I like how you like talking about deeper issues than hot girls and fast cars. But I still think you should try talking about stuff like that too. 5. I remember having to walk through the mock debates you guys would have to get to the speech side of the meeting and I'd feel really stupid. 6. You remind me of the owl in Winnie the Pooh! Yay! 7. What is your recommendation for a rising junior like myself? What is the most important thing I should absorb from junior year?
Carter 1. I talk so dirty with you, it's almost embarassing to reveal in public. Seriously. 2. I challenge you to give mainstream American music a try... I challenge you to listen to Britney Spears for an hour. And sing along. 3. I associate the color red with you. Because it's your favorite. 4. I like how you just say whatever you feel like saying, and you don't worry about what's "acceptable" and what's not. 5. I remember MYS Wednesday nights, of course... and endless conversations via instant messenger. 6. You remind me of a cat. Because you like cats... and so do I, I suppose. 7. Gosh, what is there to ask you that I haven't already asked? Oh. Have you bought that Armani suit yet, in time for that little thing of mine?
Ruth 1. Your new hair is sort of emo. And I like it. 2. I challenge you to quit orchestra!! 3. You are a very red color. But not in a Communist way, I promise. 4. Well I like that in the 6th grade you let me borrow your pencils in math class just about every day. Plus you are hardcore and eat Honey Nut Cheerios. On top of that I think you're pretty much amazing and when I grow up I want to be you. 5. Clearest memory... you crunching Cheerios behind me in math for like 6 weeks. OH! AND STAND PARTNER AWESOMENESS!!! 6. You remind me of a turtle. Because you're wrinkly and like to eat lettuce. 7. So... how do you feel about cello boy?
| So... Summer is a fabulous thing. ECN 111 at ASU is a fabulous thing. And by ECN 111, I'm including everything about Einstein's, and playing billiards, and sitting by the fountain, and most of all, Danny, afterwards.
And of course, like all of the past relationship-boys of my life, he is technically very inappropriate for me to be dating and of course, is leaving at the end of the summer.
What is it with me and summer boys?
Well, besides my summer class, there's not much to my life. I eat, drink, sleep, and breathe summery goodness and I don't really care for the trivialities in between.
(I do have a really hard time focusing in class. Seriously. Macroeconomics is the most mind-numbing thing, ever.)
And because everyone needs to be keeping up with the Barbaras, you need to be here, now. http://www.geocities.com/babsie452 Hooray!
